PA Program Academic Achievement Award
Description
To recognize the Academic Achievement of a graduating Physician Assistant student
Eligibility
- The Year 2 BScPA Student in good standing, with the highest cumulative grade point average (cGPA) in their cohort, upon program completion (15 credits)
Nomination & Selection Criteria
- Determined by Program Director in August, annually, to a graduating student
PA Student of the Year
Description
To recognize a Year 2 PA student for demonstrating exemplary qualities of a Physician Assistant
Eligibility
- Any Year 2 BScPA Student in good standing
- Winners of another PA student award are not eligible for this award
Nomination
- Nominated by peers, self, faculty or PA/MD teachers
- Nomination is to include:
- Full name of the nominee
- Name, title and professional designation of the nominator and relationship to nominee
- Up to 1000 character statement describing:
- A summary of the known contributions supporting the nomination
- The impact of these contributions on others
Selection Criteria
- Judged by the Awards committee
- Criteria to include any of:
- Collaborates with others
- Provides service to advance the PA profession
- Demonstrated leadership in local, regional or national activities
- Advocates for patients and the community
- Participates in scholarly activities related to the practice of medicine
- Demonstrates professional, respectful and ethical behavior
PA Student Clinical Excellence Award
Description
To recognize a Year 2 PA student for demonstrating clinical excellence in his/her clinical rotations
Eligibility
- Any Year 2 BScPA student in good standing
- Winners of another PA student award are not eligible for this award
Nomination
- Nominated by preceptors
- Nomination is to include:
- Full name of the nominee
- Name. title and professional designation of the nominator and relationship to nominee
- Up to 1000 character statement describing:
- A summary of the known contributions supporting the nomination
- Examples of the student demonstrating clinical excellence
Selection Criteria
- Judged by the Awards Committee
- Excellent example of all CanMEDs-PA roles as demonstrated in the clinical environment
PA Student Leadership Award
Description
To recognize a Year 2 student who has demonstrated strong leadership skills throughout the BScPA Program
Eligibility
- Any Year 2 BScPA student in good standing
- Winners of another PA student award are not eligible for this award
Nomination
- Nominated by peers and/or faculty
- Nomination is to include:
- Full name of the nominee
- Name, title and professional designation of the nominator and relationship to nominee
- Up to 1000 characters describing:
- A summary of the known contributions supporting the nomination
- Examples of the student demonstrating leadership excellence
Selection Criteria
- Judged by the Awards committee
- Criteria to include:
- Excellent leadership skills during the program
PA Student Scholarly Excellence Award
Description
To recognize a Year 2 student who has shown excellence in their Year 2 Quality Improvement (QI) project
Eligibility
- Any Year 2 student who has completed a QI Project
- Winners of another PA student award are not eligible for this award
Nomination
- PAP265 Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) Course Director nominates top 3 QI projects
- Nominations to include:
- Full name/title of the QI project
- The abstract of the QI project proposal
Selection Criteria
- Judged by the Awards Committee
- Criteria to include:
- Scholarly work that contributes to Quality Improvement with potential positive impact on patient care/ the health care system
PA Ethical Decision Making Award
Description
- To recognize a Year 2 student who has shown excellence in their Year Ethical Decision-Making Final paper
Eligibility
- Any Year 2 student who has completed the PAP269 Ethics course
- Winners of another PA student Award, are not eligible for this award
Nomination
- PAP269 Ethics Course director selects best 3 papers which exemplifies the use of a model of ethical decision making in a clinical case. These are submitted to the Awards Committee
Selection Criteria
- Judged by the Awards committee as to the final award recipient
- Criteria to include:
- Scholarly work that incorporates ethical decision making in a clinical case.
