Program Awards
The BScPA Program would like to acknowledge achievements by students, alumni and teachers/faculty in the program. As of July 2017, this will be an annual process. Nominations are open year round. All nominations received by August 31 will be considered for the November awards ceremony.

PA Program Academic Achievement (Student Award)
DESCRIPTION
Academic Achievement of a graduating Physician Assistant Student.
ELIGIBILITY
A Year 2 BScPA Student in good standing.
NOMINATION
N/A
SELECTION CRITERIA
Student with the highest cumulative grade point average (cGPA) in their cohort, upon program completion (15 credits).
PA Student of the Year (Student Award)
DESCRIPTION
Demonstration of exemplary qualities of a Physician Assistant by a Year 2 PA student.
ELIGIBILITY
A Year 2 BScPA Student in good standing.
NOMINATION
Nominated by peers, self, faculty or PA/MD teachers.

PA Student Clinical Excellence Award (Student Award)
DESCRIPTION
Demonstration of clinical excellence by a Year 2 student in their clinical rotations.
ELIGIBILITY
A Year 2 BScPA Student in good standing.
NOMINATION
Nominated by preceptors.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Excellent example of all CanMEDS-PA Roles in the clinical environment.
PA Student Leadership Award (Student Award)
DESCRIPTION
Demonstration of strong leadership skills by a PA student throughout the BScPA Program.
ELIGIBLITY
A Year 2 BScPA Student in good standing.
NOMINATION
Nominated by peers, and/or faculty.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Excellent leadership skills for the duration of the BScPA program.
PA Student Scholarly Excellence Award (Student Award)
DESCRIPTION
Excellence in the Year 2 Quality Improvement (QI) project by a Year 2 student.
ELIGIBLITY
A Year 2 student who has completed a Quality Improvement project.
NOMINATION
PAP265 Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) Course Director nominates top 3 QI projects to the selection committee.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Scholarly work that contributes to quality Improvement with potential positive impact on patient care/the health care system.
PA Ethical Decision Making Award (Student Award)
DESCRIPTION
Excellence in the Ethical Decision-Making paper by a Year 2 student.
ELIGIBILITY
A year 2 student who has completed and passed the Year 2 Ethics course.
NOMINATION
PAP265 Ethics Course director nominates top 3 papers to the Awards committee.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Scholarly work exemplifies a model of ethical decision making to a clinical situation.
PA Student Mentorship Award (Student Award)
DESCRIPTION
To recognize excellence in student mentorship by a Year 2 student.
ELIGIBILITY
A Year 2 student who has demonstrated significant mentorship to a Year 1 student.
NOMINATION
Year 1 students can nominate a Year 2 student.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Demonstrate excellent communication, professionalism and insight to a junior learner.
PA Excellence in Teaching Award (Faculty/Preceptor/Alumni Award)
DESCRIPTION
Outstanding teaching in the BScPA Program.
ELIGIBILITY
Any teacher (including facilitators and preceptors) in the BScPA program.
NOMINATION
Nominated by students.
SELECTION CRITERIA

Contributes to student learning as a role model for others.

Commitment to quality teaching.
Role Model Award (Faculty/Preceptor/Alumni Award)
DESCRIPTION
Outstanding Physician Assistant involved in the BScPA Program.
ELIGIBILITY
Canadian Certified Physician Assistant involved in the BScPA Program.
NOMINATION
Nominated by students, peers, self, faculty or PA/MD teachers.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Demonstrates the key roles that define a Physician Assistant.
Faculty Scholar Award (Faculty/Preceptor/Alumni Award)
DESCRIPTION
Demonstration of excellent scholarly work by a BScPA teacher.
ELIGIBILITY
BScPA Faculty member, teacher/facilitator, or teaching assistant who has published or presented scholarly work at the local, provincial, national or international level.
NOMINATION
Nominated by students, peers, self, faculty or PA/MD teachers.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Publication/presentation that has impact on PA education or the health care system.
PA Preceptor Excellence Award (Preceptor Award)
DESCRIPTION
Excellence in the clinical environment by an Ontario MD or PA preceptor for the BScPA Program.
ELIGIBILITY
Any Ontario MD or PA preceptor involved in the BScPA Program who works with a BScPA learner in the clinical environment.
NOMINATION
Nominated by students.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Clinician involved with the BScPA Program who demonstrates excellence in all CanMEDS/CanMEDS-PA roles.
Rising Star Award (Alumni Award)
Description
Outstanding contributions to the PA Profession by an alumna/alumnus of the BScPA program.
Eligibility
A graduate of the BScPA Program.
Nomination
Nominated by peers, self, faculty or PA/MD teachers.
