MPAS Admissions Process

The MPAS admissions process includes multiple steps. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all application materials and required documentation are submitted and received by the deadlines outlined below. To help support their application, applicants are encouraged to keep verifiable records of all correspondence and documents related to the admissions process. 

Northern Ontario Admission Pathway (NOAP)

The Northern Ontario Admission Pathway (NOAP) is an optional admissions pathway for applicants to the MPAS Program who have strong connections to Northern Ontario and are interested in completing their Year 2 clinical placements in northern communities through a partnership with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM).

This pathway reflects the MPAS Program’s commitment to social accountability and to preparing physician assistants who can help meet healthcare needs in rural, remote, northern, and underserved communities.

Applicants can choose to participate in NOAP when submitting their application through SGS GradApp. To be considered, applicants will be asked to describe their connections to eligible Northern Ontario communities, such as through residence, education, employment, healthcare experience or volunteer and community involvement.

Applicants will provide details about their connection(s), including the community, type of connection, and relevant dates. Applicants also need to attest to the accuracy of the information provided. For the purposes of NOAP, Northern Ontario is defined using Statistics Canada’s Northeast and Northwest Economic Regions.

Participation in NOAP is completely optional and applicants through NOAP must meet the same admission requirements as all other MPAS applicants. Applicants admitted through NOAP may be asked to provide documentation to verify the information submitted.

Applicants who are not selected through NOAP will still be considered through the regular admissions process, provided they meet all admission requirements.
